Williams County Veteran's Memorial Building

The following pictures are of a mural I was commissioned to paint at the Williams County Veterans Memorial Building. The building is located on the Williams County Fairgrounds in Montpelier, Ohio. It was an honor to be asked to be a part of this beautiful facility's making. For those who have not toured this memorial to our county's veterans, it is a must see. It is rich with information and also displays beautiful works of art etched on granite.
Having been contacted by a donor wanting to contribute a mural to this facility, I first entered the building during the interior construction in January of 2008.
The painting became a joint venture with the Williams County Veteran's Memorial Building Fund board members. After many discussions of the content to be illustrated, research was begun. There were many, many hours spent gathering information before a preliminary draft was drawn up, and previewed by the board. Once approval was agreed upon, the painting of the mural was underway and painting began in May. It was completed in July 2008.

The most recent illustration completed at the Williams County Veteran's Memorial building: HOMEFRONT

To the right is the most recent illustration completed at the Williams County Veteran's Memorial building. It was done to commemorate those who occupied the homefront.....those who's sacrifice was that of loss. It was in their support of not only a spouse, child, sibling, or friend; but also of God and country.

The scene is set in a 1944 kitchen with the newspaper headline reading 'Allies Invade France'.
